About

image AboutI’m Tina Baxter. I have a lovely husband Matt and a beautiful little daughter, Beth. I’m currently living in Coventry but hope to move to the coast one day. I’m a creative person and love making things. I enjoy all crafts and particularly love learning new ones. This blog is a record of my craft projects, my favourite photographs and the development of my craft business Driftwood Dreaming.

Driftwood Dreaming is my craft business where I make hand made decorative gifts from driftwood and mixed media. I collect the driftwood from beaches in west Wales. I am inspired by the sea, coastline and everything coastal!

I’ve always loved art and crafts from a very early age. When I was just 4 years old I won a painting competition at infants school to paint a litter eating monster. I won a trip to meet the Lord Mayor of Coventry who presented me with a lovely box of paints (I still have the wooden box) and I also won a litter bin for my school.

Following my A-Levels I went on to take the Art Foundation course at Coventry University in 1991 and specialised in textile design. I then went on to study Textile Design and Surface Decoration at Brunel University (Buckinghamshire College as it was then) in High Wycombe and came away with a first class degree in 1995.  Following graduation I spent a couple of months working in Lake Como, Italy, for a textile design company.  This experience in Italy unfortunately shattered my dreams of working in the textile industry and I then moved from job to job until settling in my current job where I do some graphic design and magazine layouts.

I hope you enjoy my blog. You can also see my university work at my website www.tinabaxter.co.uk.

Great to have found your blog! I love your energy and passion for being creative!

Could I please ask whether you use a nail gun for craft projects, and, if yes, which one? I’m trying to find one to tack driftwood pieces together, and am befuddled by the range available.

Thanks a million, and I hope you get to live by the coast one day!

    Take care,
    Amanda

    • Hi Amanda. Thanks for your kind comments.
I actually use strong glue as I’m not keen on seeing the nails in driftwood items. This makes larger items rather fragile but I think the overall look is better.
      Happy creating!
      Tina.
